The City of Denton is proud to announce the integration of an innovative disability and accessibility feature, Recite Me, into its public-facing website.
With a commitment to serving all members of our community, these enhancements represent a significant step in making our website more accessible and user-friendly. In today’s interconnected world, access to online information and services is essential. However, traditional web design practices often overlook the needs of individuals with disabilities, creating barriers to access. Recognizing this challenge, the City of Denton has worked diligently to implement innovative solutions that prioritize inclusivity and equal access. By seamlessly integrating this feature, the City ensures that its online content remains accessible without compromising on design or functionality.
“This integration was identified as an opportunity to improve our virtual experience for community members living with a disability,” says Chief Communications Officer Dustin Sternbeck. “In today’s world, where everything we do is digitally-driven, it’s crucial that we provide an experience that allows all residents and visitors to consume content in ways that work best for them.”
Accessing these tools is straightforward. Visitors will notice a small, easily identifiable icon on the bottom right-hand side of the City’s website.

Upon clicking this icon, an optional toolbar appears toward the top of the screen, offering immediate access to all the enhanced accessibility features, including:

- Text size and font customizations
- Color contrasts
- Reading aids
- Multi-language support
- Translation capabilities
- Customizable screen readers
This initiative underscores the City’s commitment to creating a digitally inclusive community where everyone, regardless of ability, can access and benefit from online resources. To use this feature, visit www.cityofdenton.com
